Businesses paid through Klarna, Braintree or Authorize.net can still borrow against that income. It is not a card terminal advance, because none of the three is a card acquirer, but revenue based finance works on the same principle and we arrange it.

Three Different Things That Are Not Acquirers
A standard merchant cash advance is secured on card takings processed by an acquirer such as Worldpay or Dojo. These three are something else, and the difference decides which lenders will look at you.
- Klarna is buy now pay later. Your customer pays Klarna in instalments and Klarna pays you upfront, less a fee. What lands in your account is a settlement from Klarna, not a card transaction.
- Braintree is a payment gateway owned by PayPal, used mainly by online businesses and apps. It routes card payments to an acquirer behind it. Your revenue is real card turnover, but the statement you have is from Braintree or PayPal rather than from the acquirer.
- Authorize.net is a gateway owned by Visa, mostly used in the United States. UK businesses on it tend to be selling to American customers. It also sits in front of a separate acquirer.
How The Funding Works Instead
Lenders in this space call it revenue based finance rather than a merchant cash advance, but the mechanics are the same. You receive a lump sum and repay it as a percentage of your incoming revenue until a fixed total is repaid. The lender reads your settlement reports from Klarna, Braintree or Authorize.net, plus your bank statements, rather than an acquirer statement.
Two things are different from a shop with a card machine. Refund and chargeback rates matter more, because online and buy now pay later businesses run higher rates and lenders price for it. And if your revenue is split across several platforms, which is normal for an online seller, the lender may fund against all of it together or against the largest stream, depending on the facility. Tell us where your money comes from and we will match the lender to it.
The eligibility is broadly the same as a card advance: trading three months or more, revenue of around £3,000 a month or above, most sectors accepted, and poor credit considered because the lender is buying future revenue rather than lending against your credit file. Our merchant cash advance page explains the product in full, and if you sell on Amazon or Shopify we have dedicated pages for Amazon sellers and Shopify stores.
